Classes and Workshops
Our Classes and Workshops
The curriculum taught at Fun House Theatre and Film represents a unique approach to teaching youth the craft of acting. Developed primarily based on the teachings of Jeff Swearingen, artistic director of the company and widely heralded professional actor, director and playwright, skill proficiency is the focus rather than merely exposing children to or having them participate in performance to develop social skills and confidence, which is often the only goal of youth programs. The discipline is a technique based, “how to” approach to acting, that relies on putting the principles of successful performance into practice through practical, methodical and actionable instruction. Covering a wide range of subject matter rarely even approached with actors until the college level yet designed to be understood and applied by young actors, the program has delivered groundbreaking results as evidenced not only by the critical acclaim garnered by Fun House students in the company’s productions but by the large majority of professional theaters and talent agencies in the area seeking out Fun House students for their casting needs.
